Award Winning (1997) poem by Dr Mark Griffiths Professor of Behavioural Addiction
An Alliteration of Life
Mixed-up, emotional, mind in a mess
Lazy and loungeful, loving life less
Charting the changes, achieving the chance
Restless and roving, real-life romance
Dirty, dehumanised, doubly dared
Pent up, pressurised, picked up, and paired
Shagged out and shallow, a shade unsure
Burnt out, banged up, becoming a bore
Needing the knowledge, knowing the need
Sent into solitary, sowing the seed
Framed in and frantic, friendly and free
Careless and candid, can’t find the key
